The latest data from the US Department of Labor (DoL) revealed an increase in initial unemployment insurance claims by 242,000 for the week ending June 8, surpassing both initial estimates of 225,000 and the previous week’s unrevised figure of 229,000.
Further details from the report highlighted that the advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate stood at 1.2%, with the 4-week moving average rising by 4,750 to 227,000 from the previous week’s unrevised average.
Continuing Claims also saw an uptick, rising by 30,000 to reach 1.820 million for the week ended June 1.
