Santander Corporate & Investment Banking (Santander CIB) has secured its position as the global leader in export finance for the third consecutive year, with a total transaction volume of USD 8.6 billion (EUR 8.3 billion). The bank’s market share reached 10.5%, reaffirming its dominance in the sector.
In addition to topping the global rankings, Santander also claimed the number one spot in Europe and second place in Latin America. The results highlight the bank’s ability to maintain its leadership, even as the volume of export finance transactions surged over the past year.
Santander CIB’s success is attributed to its comprehensive understanding of the sectors and markets in which its clients operate, combined with its strong relationships with export credit agencies (ECAs) worldwide. This combination of global reach and local expertise has allowed the bank to consistently outperform competitors, securing its place at the top of the Dealogic League Tables—a key tool for tracking the performance and market share of financial institutions.
Mencia Bobo, Global Head of Global Transaction Banking, expressed pride in the team’s accomplishment: “Our team’s exceptional effort, collaboration, and commitment in structuring and executing this year’s transactions have driven us to the top of the rankings. This achievement reflects the dedication of everyone involved.”
Guillermo Hombravella, Global Head of Export & Agency Finance, added: “Over the years, we have continuously evolved our Export and Agency Finance business by strengthening our client relationships, facilitating connections among sponsors, exporters, importers, and ECAs, and developing innovative financial solutions. Our global presence and multi-local approach have enabled us to offer unique financial products that support our clients’ international growth.”
Santander CIB’s leadership in the export finance sector is further supported by its commitment to product innovation and enhanced market connectivity. These efforts, alongside a comprehensive approach from origination to distribution, have been key factors in the ongoing success of its Export & Agency Finance business, which provides crucial financial support for companies’ global expansion.
