In the week ending September 14, newly filed unemployment insurance claims in the United States totaled 219,000, according to data released by the Department of Labor on Thursday. This figure was lower than the anticipated 230,000 and also marked a decline from the previous week’s revised total of 231,000.
The report also indicated that the advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate stands at 1.2%. The four-week moving average for claims decreased by 3,500 to reach 227,500.
Additionally, continuing claims saw a reduction, dropping by 14,000 to 1.829 million for the week ending September 7.
