In a surprising development amid Pakistan’s ongoing economic difficulties and high unemployment rates, the country has received a glimmer of hope with the discovery of massive gold reserves. Ibrahim Hasan Murad, the former Mining Minister of Punjab, made the announcement in a statement posted on X, revealing that an estimated “2.8 million tolas of gold,” worth around PKR 800 billion, has been discovered along a 32-kilometer stretch in Attock.
The discovery follows extensive exploration efforts by the Geological Survey of Pakistan, which conducted detailed sampling at 127 sites in the region. Murad described the find as a major milestone for Pakistan’s mineral wealth, suggesting that it could play a pivotal role in addressing the nation’s economic crisis.
“This discovery marks a significant step towards unlocking Pakistan’s untapped mineral resources,” Murad stated. He further added that the gold reserves have the potential to provide new opportunities for economic growth, create jobs, and pave the way for future generations to benefit from the country’s natural wealth. As the nation grapples with its financial challenges, this discovery offers a promising glimpse into the potential for resource-driven economic revitalization.
