In the week ending April 20, the US Department of Labor (DOL) reported that initial jobless claims totaled 207,000, representing a decrease from the previous week’s figure of 212,000 and surpassing market expectations of 214,000.
The latest data also revealed that the advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate stood at 1.2%, with a 4-week moving average of 213,250—an improvement of 1,250 from the previous week’s average.
According to the report, the number of seasonally adjusted insured unemployed individuals for the week ending April 13 was 1,781,000, marking a decrease of 15,000 from the revised level of the previous week.
